Certificate of Insurance
Some buildings may require the mover to provide a Certificate of Insurance (COI). A COI is a document issued by an insurance company/broker that proves the mover's insurance coverage. It often names listed individuals and/or companies so that if the mover were to cause damage to the building or surroundings, or its workers suffer injuries associated with the move, the listed individuals and/or companies would be covered under that mover's insurance. More specifically, the document lists the effective date of the policy, the type of insurance coverage, and the types and dollar amount of liability. If you require your mover to provide a COI, it will likely increase the dollar amount of bids for your job.
